Steve Nichols est un comédien courant de petits cachets en publicités miteuses. Un soir, alors qu'il vient de terminer une prestation costumée dans le cadre de la promotion du film "Captain Avenger", il est témoin d'un cambriolage dans une épicerie. N'écoutant que son courage, et son insouciance, Steve, toujours dans son costume de super-héros, s'interpose et sauve le couple de vieux épiciers... qui le prennent pour le vrai "Captain Avenger" ! Grisé par son héroïsme, Steve décide alors de devenir super-héros ! Avec un peu de chance, cela pourrait également l'aider à séduire J., sa belle voisine...
